As he celebrates his 81st birthday tomorrow (Friday, July 10), the Laudium Sun has the honour of paying tribute to a true gentleman and one of our community’s most respected veterans, Survin “Mo” Mooloo. A dear friend of the directors of the Laudium Sun and a familiar face to generations in our community, Mo’s life has been defined by his humility, strength and unwavering commitment to both family and community. Born in Marabastad in 1945, Mo’s remarkable journey has been one of quiet sacrifice, unwavering dedication and unconditional love for those closest to him. As the eldest of six children, responsibility found him at an early age. Throughout his life he placed family above all else, working tirelessly to provide, protect and guide those around him. Together with his beloved wife Feroza, Mo built a family rooted in strong values, respect and unity, a legacy that today includes four children, two sonsin-law, one daughter-in-law, six grandsons, two granddaughters and one granddaughter-in-law, all of whom remain immensely proud of the example he continues to set. An accomplished bodybuilder in his younger years, Mo’s commitment to discipline extended far beyond physical fitness. He became a mentor and role model to many young people in the community, demonstrating through his own life, that determination, perseverance and humility are among life’s greatest strengths. Despite the admiration he has earned over the decades, those closest to him say that his greatest achievement has always been the love and guidance he has given his family and the countless lives he has touched.
Paying tribute to their beloved father, his family wrote:
“Today we celebrate an extraordinary man, a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and above all, a legend in every sense of the word. Through hard work, sacrifice and unwavering love, you built a family founded on strength, values and unity. To us, you have always been our pillar of strength. Through every challenge and every triumph, you have stood tall, guiding us with wisdom, protecting us with love, and inspiring us by your example. Your strength has carried not only your own family, but also siblings, friends, neighbours and many young people in the community who looked up to you for guidance and encouragement. You have earned the respect and admiration of so many, not because you sought recognition, but because you lived a life of integrity generosity and service. As Ricardo so beautifully sings, ‘You’re one in a million and a million in one.’ Those words describe you perfectly. Daddy, you are our legend, our hero and our greatest example of what it means to live a meaningful life. We are grateful for the sacrifices you made, the opportunities you created for us and the values you instilled in us. Because of you, we know the importance of family, loyalty and unconditional love. As we celebrate your 81st birthday, we honour the incredible man you are and celebrate the legacy you continue to build. May God bless you with good health, happiness and many more years surrounded by the love of your children, grandchildren and everyone whose lives you have touched. Happy 81st Birthday, Daddy.”
The Laudium Sun joins Mo’s loving family, friends and the wider community in wishing our dear friend, Mo, a very happy 81st birthday. May the Almighty continue to bless Mo with good health, prosperity and many more years of sharing his wisdom, kindness and remarkable example with all those fortunate enough to know him.
