A local businessman, who moved from Erasmia into a seemingly secure estate in Eldoraigne, due to the high crime in Erasmia, is highly agitated after his home in the security estate was burgled.
To add to his woes, the businessman, Asgar (KC) Mahomed claims that he has not been receiving co-operation from the Home Owners Association (HOA) at the estate. Asgar who lives in the upmarket Eldoglen Estate, told the Laudium Sun that he and his family were away last month on the weekend of 24–26, October and that his home was unoccupied at the time. Upon his return on Monday morning (Oct 27), Asgar was stunned to discover that his home on Bondev Drive had been broken into, with a number of valuable stolen. Asgar added, “The Estate’s Security Manager was contacted and inspected the property. It was evident that the upstairs room door had been forced open and that the thief had cut through the built-in cupboards to gain access. There were clear visible footprints in the upstairs room and on the patio, indicating the point of entry. The break-in appeared professional and executed with precision, to avoid leaving traceable evidence. The CCTV footage shows a male walking down the street and entering my house in the evening, at 19:50 on the Friday that we were away (Oct 24). We then discovered that a former domestic staff member, who had left in June, still had active access on the ClickOn system. This, despite a formal letter sent to the HOA of Eldoglen Estate informing them at the time, that she had left our employment. When we now enquired as to why she still had active access, we were incorrectly informed that her access had been deactivated in June 2025. We then sent a follow up letter with evidence showing her access was still active. To date, no response has been received.”

Lack of support from Estate Management
Asgar added further, “On Wednesday, Oct 29, due to frustrations at the lack of action and co operation from the HOA and in particular Firoze Amod, the Estate Manager of the Eldoglen HOA, a formal letter was sent to Firoze, addressed to the Estate Board, requesting an urgent meeting. This request has gone unanswered, with no acknowledgment or response from any board member. I then escalated the matter by contacting the Chairman of the Eldoglen HOA, Arshad Abba on Tuesday Nov 4. He stated that he had only just heard of my incident in the morning and needed to gather more information. He assured me he would meet with Firoze that evening and get back to the resident. However as of today (Thursday, Nov 27), I have not received any follow up. Just to add, on Friday, Nov 7, I sent a WhatsApp message to Shan at the Estate’s office requesting the email addresses of all board members, to formally request a board meeting. Her response was: ‘Unfortunately I am not at liberty to provide you any of their email addresses. Please contact Firoze as the Estate Manager, should you have any queries or comments.’ This lack of transparency obstructs residents from holding the Estate accountable.”

Private investigation findings
“I engaged the services of Pierre Gildenhuys, a private investigator to help find the culprit who stole from my house after breaking-in. He interviewed a number of the security guards posted at the estate. Surprisingly, we learnt from all of them that they only found out about the break-in on November 11, that is around two weeks later and after we arranged to interview the guards. We also learnt that the guards were coached before the interview by the HOA and that there was no entry in the Occurrence Book (OB) about the break-in.
According to our investigators, it seemed that the guards were instructed to withhold relevant information. It was worrisome that one of the guards interviewed initially claimed his old phone was broken, but later admitted to lying; the phone was functional. Forensic analysis revealed two large payments on November 5 & 6, 2025 made to him. A new phone was purchased on November 8, 2025. His seeming dishonesty raised suspicion with the investigators. We also learnt that another guard at Eldoglen, whose duties included, scanning vehicles, registering residents, and monitoring CCTV, reported that 4 screens and over 100 cameras, were being monitored by only one person, spending four hours at a time. Our investigators also found images of guards sleeping on duty, with one guard admitting that residents sometimes brought unregistered guests through with ‘straight passes.’ Another guard confirmed that more than 10 cameras have been out of order for months and still remain unrepaired.”
Asgar concluded by saying, “It is now over four weeks since the theft incident (as of November 27) and the Estate has made no meaningful effort to assist in resolving the matter or ensuring the safety of residents. A person unlawfully entered my property, possibly scaled the wall and broke into my home, yet the Estate continues to deny that this constitutes a security breach. Instead, they appear focused on protecting their own interests, obstructing investigations and denying accountability. It is out of sheer frustration that I have now approached the Laudium Sun, as all doors to get answers from the HOA have been slammed on my face. Furthermore, it is important that residents at Eldoglen Estate are also informed about the challenges I faced, just to get justice. The serious concerns raised by the private investigator’s findings, including dishonesty, procedural breaches and systemic failures in Eldoglen’s security management are indeed worrisome.”

The Laudium Sun contacted Firoze for a comment on some of the allegations made by Asgar, but at the time of going to press, no response had been received.
Attempts to get a response from Arshad were unsuccessful.
