Complaints against employers by aggrieved employees continue, as more and more employees, mainly from the security industry knock on the doors of the Laudium Sun, seeking assistance.
Once more complaints have been received against Cops Security Company, whose office is on Tangerine Street in Laudium. This follows security guard Josiah Setlhako Modibane, an ex-employee of Cops Security, claiming that the company has not paid his salary due to him of R4,300 for one and a half months of guard duties he performed in Laudium.

In an affidavit, Josiah showed to the Laudium Sun, he stated, “I am a former employee of Cops Security in Laudium. I was employed by Cops Security, which is located on Tangerine Street in Laudium, starting from 4 March 2025. I worked as a security guard for the company and my agreed salary was R2,800 per month. During the first two months of my employment, my salary was paid into my bank account on time and everything was fine. I performed my duties diligently, reporting to work on time and fulfilling all my responsibilities. After the first two months, the company began giving excuses for delaying my salary. They claimed that the business was not doing well and that payment would be late. At first, I thought this was a temporary issue, but over time I realized that the company was deliberately withholding my wages. This made me question whether I could continue working for Cops Security and survive under such conditions. Despite these challenges, I continued working from March 2025 until 30 August 2025. On 30 August 2025, I resigned from the company. At the time of my resignation, I had not been paid for about one and a half months, covering the salary for July and half of August. The total amount owed to me was R4,300. The manager continued to give excuses and promised to deposit my salary into my account, but to this day, I have not received any payment. I have also heard about several complaints of other employees who worked at Cops Security of not being paid their salaries and I feared that I would become a victim as well. I am currently unemployed and have a family that depends on me, including my wife and four children. I need my unpaid wages desperately to support my household. The money owed to me is the result of my hard work and I have a right to receive it. I hope that by sharing my experience, attention will be drawn to the unfair practices at Cops Security and that justice can be served. I need the company to pay the R4,300 they owe me, so that I can provide for my family and meet our basic needs. This is my hard-earned money and I will not allow it to be taken from me. The stress of not receiving my wages has been overwhelming and it has affected both my life and the lives of my family. I urge the relevant authorities and the community to take note of my complaint and ensure that workers are treated fairly and paid what they have rightly worked for.”

Wife of Josiah, Livia Modibane, of Atteridgeville, told the Laudium Sun, “My husband worked very hard for Cops Security and he has not been paid one and a half months of his salary. We have four children and we do not know how to survive without this money. The unpaid salary has caused immense stress and hardship for our family. We did not know that Cops Security could treat employees this way. It is shocking to realize that a company can withhold the wages of hardworking people who depend on their salaries to feed and support their families. This delay is unfair and unacceptable. It is now 2026, and the money that is rightfully my husband’s has still not been deposited into his account. We hoped that Cops Security would eventually pay him, but we have waited long enough. The delay has caused our family emotional and financial strain, and we need justice. The unpaid wages are not a small amount, it is due to my husband for the work he completed faithfully and it’s required to support our children and household. It is time for Cops Security to take responsibility and pay the outstanding salary. The company must act now and settle the unpaid wages so that we can move forward without the constant worry and stress caused by their negligence. We are asking for immediate action to ensure that the salary owed is paid in full and that hardworking employees are treated fairly and justly.”
The Laudium Sun spoke to supervisors of Cops Security for a comment, Rotendo Masvinge and Benson Sebona, who said they cannot comment on the matter and that we should speak to a certain Omar Mohammed. Attempts to get hold of Omar were futile.
