The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe, has announced the adjustment of fuel prices that will come into effect from the 2nd of September 2026. The adjustments are based on a number of current local and international factors.
Take note of the following changes;
- Both grades of Petrol 93 and 95 (ULP & LRP): One hundred and thirty-four cents per litre (134.00 c/l) increase.
- Diesel (0.05% sulphur): Two hundred and ninety-three point nine cents per litre (293.90 c/l) increase.
- Diesel (0.005% sulphur): Three hundred and fourteen point nine cents per litre (314.90 c/l) increase.
- Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale): Two hundred and thirteen cents per litre (213.00 c/l) increase.
- SMNRP for IP: Two hundred and eighty-four cents per litre (284.00 c/l) increase.
- Maximum Retail Price of LPGas: Sixty-nine cents per kilogram (69.00 c/kg) increase and seventy-nine cents per kilogram (79.00 c/kg) increase in the Western Cape.
The main reasons for the adjustments, according to the Minister, are the crude oil prices, international petroleum product prices, the Rand/US Dollar exchange rate and the implementation of the slate levy.
