Easter celebrations… A time of reflection, renewal & rest

Easter greetings from the Bethesda Revival Church… Gabriella Marian, Pastor Kevin Naicker, Dishantha Naidoo, Boaz Pillay and Alex (back).

As Good Friday (April 3) ushers in the much anticipated Easter long-weekend, many locals
observe this sacred period on the Christian calendar, with prayer, reflection and meaningful time spent with dear ones. For many, Easter serves as a gentle reminder to embrace the true essence of the season, not only within the walls of the Church, but through everyday acts of kindness, forgiveness, compassion and unity. It is a time to reconnect with faith, strengthen family bonds and find stillness in an often hurried world. Pastor Kevin Naicker of the Bethesda Revival Church in Laudium conveyed this message, “Easter reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s power. Where there is despair, He releases hope. Where there is darkness, He shines His light. Where there is loss, He brings restoration.”

*The Laudium Sun extends warmest wishes to all our Christian readers, for a joyous and spiritually uplifting Easter. May your homes be filled with peace, warmth and togetherness and may this blessed period bring renewed hope for the days ahead. As is customary during this time, many of our readers will be traveling to various destinations to celebrate. We urge all residents to exercise caution on the roads. Drive responsibly, take regular breaks and please do not drink and drive. Let us all play our part in ensuring that this Easter is not only meaningful, but safe for everyone. Happy Easter!

Bethesda Revival Church Easter Messages – 572 Primrose Street, Laudium

Pastor Kevin Naicker of the Bethesda Revival Church on Primrose Street, Laudium:
“As we enter this sacred and powerful season, we are reminded that Easter is far more than a celebration—it is the very foundation of our faith and the greatest revelation of God’s unfailing love for humanity. Good Friday draws us to the cross—a place of sacrifice, surrender, and divine purpose. It is here that Jesus Christ gave His life for us all. What seemed like a moment of defeat was, in truth, the greatest victory ever won. On that cross, He carried our sins, our pain, our brokenness, and every burden we could not bear. Through His sacrifice came redemption; through His suffering came salvation. But the story does not end at the cross. Easter Sunday declares the greatest triumph in history—the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The tomb is empty. Death has been conquered. Jesus is alive! His resurrection brings us the promise of new life, restoration, and a living, unshakable hope that no circumstance can destroy. In these uncertain and challenging times, Easter reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s power. Where there is despair, He releases hope. Where there is darkness, He shines His light. Where there is loss, He brings restoration. Where there is death, He gives eternal life.
Scripture:
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6
To every family and every reader in our Laudium community and beyond, we pause to remember the precious souls who have gone before us. We take comfort in the promise of eternal life and rejoice in the hope of paradise. May the Lord bring healing and comfort to grieving hearts. We pray for peace in our world—that wars may cease and unity may prevail among nations. May this Easter season fill your heart with peace, your home with joy, and your life with renewed faith and strength. Jesus is alive—and because He lives, there is
hope for us all.

Omega Family Ministries – Primrose Street, Laudium

Apostle Anthony & Pastor Estelle Marian of the Omega Family Ministries on Primrose Str, Laudium:
“THE LOVE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Easter stands as one of the most powerful reminders of love the world has ever known—the love of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It is a season that calls us to pause, reflect, and remember the depth of His sacrifice and the victory that followed. At the heart of Easter is the cross. It is here that we see love in its purest form—not just spoken, but demonstrated. Jesus willingly laid down His life, bearing the weight of sin, pain, and brokenness, not because He had to, but because He chose to. His sacrifice was not just for a moment in history; it was for all humanity, for every generation, and for each one of us personally.
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) This love is not distant or abstract—it is deeply personal. It reaches into our lives today, offering forgiveness where there has been guilt, healing where there has been pain, and hope where there has been despair. The cross reminds us that no situation is beyond redemption, and no life is beyond transformation. Yet Easter does not end at the cross—it continues to the empty tomb, which assures us that even in our darkest moments, there is always the promise of new beginnings. As we celebrate this Easter season, may we not only remember His sacrifice but also embrace the life He has given us. May His love fill our hearts, guide our steps, and shine through us to those around us. Wishing you and your family a blessed and joyful Easter. May the love of Christ fill your home with peace, hope and new life.”

Minister Elon & Pastor Karin Marian of Primrose Str, Laudium:
“Happy Easter! May this beautiful season remind you of hope, renewal, and new beginnings. May your heart be filled with peace, your home with joy, and your life with countless blessings. As we celebrate the resurrection and the promise of new life, may you and your loved ones be surrounded by love, faith, and happiness. Wishing you a blessed and joyful Easter.”

Pastors Rajoo & Ria Bhana of 33rd Ave, Laudium:
Easter reminds us of something the world so often forgets: the worst thing is never the last thing. The resurrection of Christ isn’t just a distant event in history. It’s a turning point for all of us. When Jesus rose from the grave, He made a way for everything broken to be restored—every sin, every wound, every ounce of despair. What looked like the end of the story on Friday was only the beginning of new life on Sunday. Romans 6:4 says ” By our baptism, then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father, so also we might live a new life.
That “new life” isn’t something we have to earn. Jesus offers it freely, even to the most wounded among us. As we approach Easter, let’s remember: this isn’t just a holiday. It’s the declaration of ultimate victory. It’s hope for the hopeless, healing for the broken, and new life for all who believe. Because Jesus lives, there’s always a way forward. Always a second chance. Always a future worth fighting for. Happy Easter!

Nathaniel and Prosper Chibharo of Heliodor Str, Laudium:
“May the risen Christ fill your hearts with faith, hope, and love this Easter. Wishing everyone a blessed Easter as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. May God’s grace and miracle of Easter bring everyone renewed faith and happiness. Have a truly blessed and Holy Easter!”

Carmiel Marian of 19th Ave, Laudium:
“Wishing you a joyful and blessed Easter. May this season fill your heart with hope, your home with love, and your days with peace and happiness. Happy Easter to you and your loved ones!”

St. Andrew’s Anglican Church – Primrose Street

Revd. Gershwin David of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Primrose Str, Laudium:
“Dear Residents of Laudium, As we celebrate the joy and hope of Easter, we are reminded that this sacred season speaks to something deeply human in all of us – the longing for new life, healing, and a fresh start. Easter tells a story of light overcoming darkness, of life overcoming death, of hope rising even when things seem broken, and of love having the final word. This message is for everyone in our community — regardless of background, faith, or circumstance. In Laudium, we are beautifully diverse. We come from different traditions, cultures, and walks of life. Some of us are blessed, others are struggling. Some carry quiet burdens – of hardship, addiction, loss, or uncertainty. Yet Easter gently reminds us: no situation is beyond renewal, no life is beyond hope. May this season inspire us to:
Choose kindness over division
Forgiveness over hate
Offer support where there is struggle
Bring light where there is darkness
May your homes be filled with peace, your hearts with renewed strength, and your lives
with purpose. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed, peaceful, and hope-filled Easter.”

Easter Wishes from Westpoint Baptist Church – Taj Street, Laudium

Pastor Alan Wainwright of the Westpoint Baptist Church on Taj Str, Laudium:
“Easter, what we prefer to refer to as Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, is a time of second chances; it’s a time when we remember God’s infinite love and grace demonstrated to mankind; a time when Jesus died on a cross to give us a clean slate and rose from the dead to give us new life, hope, and and eternal future. Having this life and hope we live lives of purpose – God’s purpose that He purposed for each of us when He created us. Let us then receive His love and grace that’s found in Jesus, and live out His purpose for our lives.”

Brenda Hore of 19th Ave, Laudium:
“Wishing you a wonderful Easter holiday it means a lot to me because Jesus christ was crucified and died it means forgiveness of our sins me and you so that we may have eternal life, and after 3 days he raised again so Jesus his alive and he loves us all, AMEN.”

Bernadine Clark of Himalaya Heights, on Bengal Str, Laudium:
“The Easter and Passover weekend signifies a major spring convergence of Jewish and Christian faiths, focusing on themes of liberation, redemption, and renewal. Passover (Pesach) commemorates the Israelites’ freedom from slavery in Egypt, while Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, marking liberation from sin and death.”

Joan Wainwright of Taj Str, Laudium:
“What Easter means to me…
Easter is the celebration of when God the Father, because of his great love for us, offered his only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice to take away our sins. This is the Supreme love – the Father giving his Son; and the Son laying down his life so that we can be saved. This is the Good News, called the Gospel. “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16.”

The Reformed Church Charisma – 261 Jewel Street, Laudium

Rev Dr Victor Vythalingum and Caroline Pillay of the Reformed Church Charisma:
“WHAT DOES THE PASSION WEEK MEAN TO ME?
These 2 days are the most important and significant days in the Christian Calendar. There are deeper meanings in understanding these days. Even to a greater extent more than Christmas Day. The Good Friday or Holy Friday is the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified. Jesus was the only Man who walked the earth who was PERFECT GOD AND PERFECT MAN. Therefore, Jesus was and is sinless. In Genesis chapter 3, we read of how sin entered the world. This caused humanity’s relationship to be ‘broken’ with God the Father. Romans 5:12 and 18 & 19 explains how sin came into the world through one man Adam and how righteousness and reconciliation with God was through one Man Jesus Christ. John 10:17-18 Jesus chooses to lay down His life for us. Why is it a Good Friday when Jesus Christ is crucified? He was the only ONE who could pay with His crucifixion and death for our waywardness in the world. Is sin not prevalent and so rife in our community, country and the world? The crime, violence, murder, abuse, fraud, corruption and every manner of blatant sin is so openly and freely evident all around us. We live in difficult times of fear and dread. Sin and it’s cruel and punishing effect is committed by all people irrespective of the position a person may hold. We read and see all of this in the News every day. This is intrinsic due the SIN FACTOR which dwells in our hearts. Romans 8:5-9 Jesus Christ CAME TO REVERSE ALL OF THIS TORMENT AND TRAUMA IN OUR LIVES. He is the Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6. Do we want to receive this peace and the promise of eternal life? Jesus Christ provides this eternal life John 4:13-14. All this became possible because Jesus Christ arose on Resurrection Sunday. The very words of Jesus Christ, note not another writer but Jesus, John 11:25-26 boldly pronounces Jesus saying ‘I am the resurrection and life and our belief in Him brings eternal life. That’s what this significant Passion week of the Lord Jesus Christ is about Amen. !!!! “
