For many, Easter in synonymous with long weekends, a time of late mornings and relaxation, the joy of Easter eggs, chocolate covered marshmallows and other candies. Of course there is more to this very significant time on the Christian calendar and Pastor Anthony Marian (pictured) of Omega Family Ministries, Primrose Str, Laudium, had this to say about the religious significance of this time of the year. “Easter is a time of fundamental significance in the Christian faith as it holds great meaning for our faith itself and the remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our saviour.”
The Laudium Sun joins the Marian family in wishing all our readers observing Easter this long-weekend; joy, peace and renewed hope for the future. We also urge our readers who will be driving on the roads, to do so with caution. Please do not drink and drive.

Easter Celebrations begin on Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. We celebrate Easter because our Lord conquered death. The Resurrection is the foundation of our faith. Romans 6:4 And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives, its Christian theology of Hope, Faith, Joy and Love. Just as God’s glorious power raised Jesus from the dead, that same power is far beyond anything you and I can muster. It is the source of a new life for us. In Jesus Christ, You Have Power to Live a Consistently Good Life. God intends this new life to be a life where brokenness is replaced by wholeness, where we are increasingly free from the power of selfishness and sin. He offers a full life of love, joy, and peace. This new life is a life of honoring God as we live in step with how he designed the world to work. The Cross teaches us that forgiveness takes sacrifice even on our part toward others. The cross teaches about success. In John 19:30, as he was dying, Jesus said, “It is finished.” You see, he succeeded in his mission to do God’s will. The Cross as a symbol has many meanings. For those suffering as a result of human sinfulness, this cross redeems. For those experiencing great sorrow, this cross brings assurance that we do not suffer alone. It takes a power outside of ourselves to break free. That power is the very power that raised Jesus from death to new life. Please join with us for our Easter Celebration, Good Friday @ 8am – The Cross of suffering. Easter Sunday @ 6am – Open Air Jesus is Risen – Celebrate the Empty Tomb @ Bethesda Revival Church, 572 Primrose Street, Laudium. For prayer and counselling call 0828751644. Pastor Amos Mulofwa of Vandenberg Str, Danville: “The entire message of the gospel revolves around one unique historical event, the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. It is on the basis of this sacrifice that Paul writes in 1 Phillippians 4:19 “my god shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.” All you need covers every area of your life, body, soul, mind and financial needs. Nothing is either so large or small that, it is excluded from God’s provision. By a single sovereign act, God brought together every need and suffering of humanity in one climatic moment of time. God has not provided many different solutions for every problem faced by mankind, instead he offers us all one sufficient solution, which is His answer to every problem. In James 1:15 the Apostles says “sin, when it is fully grown brings forth death.” When Jesus became identified with our sin, it was inevitable that he should also experience death which is the outcome of sin. Confirmation of this is seen in Hebrews 2:9 “Jesus was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God Almighty taste death for everyone.” The death that Jesus died was the inevitable outcome of human sin, which he had taken upon himself. Jesus bore the sin of all men and so died the death due to all men. In return, to all who accept his substitutionary sacrifice, Jesus now offers the gift of eternal life. Romans 6:23 Paul sets the two alternatives side by side, “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our lord and saviour! The leadership and congregation of Pentecostal Revival Centre, would like to wish all Christians a Happy Easter Weekend.”A special invite to our Easter Services, Good Friday at 9 am and Easter Sunday at 9 am at Pentecostal Revival Centre, Sastri Ave, Claudius. Pastors Ria (42) & Rajoo (46) Bhana of Sarel Avenue, Mountain View: “Let’s share Good News this Easter. Good news that the tomb is empty! Good news that Jesus rose from the dead! Good news that the Devil couldn’t hold Him! Good news that death has lost its sting! Goodnews that the grave has lost its victory! Good news that we need not fear death anymore! Jesus died and rose again! He is surely alive, we just need to believe and have faith as small as a mustard seed. God can perform miracles with that, just allow Him in your life. His Word in James 4:8 tells us that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Let’s celebrate the risen King this Easter and submit our lives to Christ! Wishing all a blessed Easter, with much love from us.”
Olga (76), Terrence (72) & Sheila Reddy (74) of Laudium: “Christ is risen! This Easter, we remember Jesus’ sacrifice and love for us and give thanks for what He brought to our world. Wishing you a blessed and holy Easter!”
Brian Chauke (29) Teshima Pillay (31) of Broadway Street, Valhalla: “Easter: a joyous holiday will be here before we know it! And as we get closer, you’ll probably plan on wearing your Sunday best before joining your family for a holiday gathering. Not only that, but you’re no doubt thinking about the sweet, delicious candy-filled Easter eggs. All these Easter traditions are memories in the making. In Our Celebration lets stay reminded about the true reason for these wonderful festivities. Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. Christ died and lived! Jesus did not die on the cross just so we could live comfortable, well adjusted lives. His purpose is far deeper, He wants to make us like himself. He wants us to live a life of sacrifice and obedience in accordance to his Word. We are made in the image of Christ. Jesus didn’t say “I am finished.” He said, “It is finished.” He was just getting started! “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25- 26″
Pastor Jason Joshua Ramsuran (27) of Emerald Street, Laudium: “Happy Easter to all. May this joyful season fill your heart with renewed hope, love and peace. May God bless your home with happiness and unwavering faith and may all your dreams and wishes come true.”
Elon (32) and Karin Marian (27) of Westpark: “Let everything you do be done in love.” “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” “Let the resurrection joy lift us from loneliness and weakness and despair to strength and beauty and happiness.” “Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.”
