Eid-ul-Adhaa, which was celebrated in South Africa this past Saturday (June 7) marked the profound legacy of faith, trust, and sacrifice—embodied by Nabi Ebrahim (Alayhis Salaam) and his beloved son, Nabi Isma’eel (Alayhis Salaam). It was a day that reminded us all of the depth of true submission to the Almighty, even when it demands the most difficult choices. In Laudium, the Pretoria United Eid Gah, by the mercy of the Almighty and following in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), once again hosted a vibrant and uplifting Eid prayer gathering at the Rosina Sedibane grounds. This bi annual tradition saw thousands from the local Muslim community come together, reinforcing bonds of unity, compassion, and faith. On the crisp winter morning, the icy air was warmed by the voices of the Ummah in unison. From the earliest hours, the grounds came alive with the echoes of takbeer, as families arrived wrapped in winter layers and sincerity of heart. As the sun rose, so too did the spirit of Eid. But the heart of Eid-ul-Adhaa is far deeper than celebration alone. It is a powerful reminder of complete devotion to our Creator. The monumental sacrifice of Nabi Ebrahim (AS) stands as a timeless lesson in obedience, courage, and surrender to divine will. This powerful message was beautifully conveyed in the heartfelt English khutbah delivered by Haafidh Ismail Hazarvi, who called upon the youth especially to take ownership of their spiritual identity. He reminded the congregation that the true essence of sacrifice is not confined to the Qurbani of animals—but extends to our daily choices, our discipline, and the values we live by. The prayer concluded with a soul-stirring du‘aa, asking Allah SWT to bless our country with harmony and stability, to relieve the pain of our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine and around the world, to grant healing to the sick, and to bless our departed loved ones with Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen. As the congregation dispersed, exchanging heartfelt embraces and cheerful “Eid Mubarak” greetings, the field remained filled with the echoes of love, unity, and a shared spiritual purpose.
