Election fever is certainly heating up as the IEC released the certified Ward Candidate list yesterday (Wednesday, Sept 16).
With the Local Government Elections less than 50 days away (Nov 4), election posters are starting to fill up street poles. The IEC list for the Tshwane area shows that many Ward Candidates, especially those representing smaller political parties, will be contesting various Wards, simultaneously. In Ward 61 (Laudium/Erasmia), there are 49 candidates contesting the Ward Councillor position. While many of the candidates are representing unknown political parties, surprisingly parties such as the Minority Front, Patriotic Alliance, VF+ and the MK party have candidates contesting as Ward Councillors for Ward 61. As expected, ActionSA, ANC, DA, Al Jama-ah, EFF and ACDP will also be contesting the Ward Councillor seat for Ward 61.
