First school day… tears & fears as learners part from parents

Tears rolled at many primary schools across the country, including Laudium & surrounds, this past Wednesday (Jan 14), the first day of school for thousands of little ones.

The Laudium Sun visited a few local primary schools and witnessed a mix of emotions,
with some Grade R learners all smiles, eager to meet new friends, while others clung tightly to their parents, bursting into tears when it was time to part ways.

It seemed that some parents needed more comforting than their children, with many unable to hold back their own tears as they left their little ones behind for the first time. As for the older learners, it was all laughter and hugs as they reunited with classmates after the long festive break.

The Laudium Sun wishes all learners, especially those starting school for the first time, everything of the best for the year ahead and a very bright future indeed. May your minds be sharp, your lunch-boxes full and your parents less emotional by next week!
