Welcome dear kids to this February edition of Kid’s Corner. As Ramadaan approaches, Muslims are preparing for a month of fasting, extra prayers and reflection, including many of the younger kids, who are eager to experience the spirit of Ramadaan. Although fasting is compulsory only from the age of 12, many younger children show incredible bravery and spirit by joining the adults in fasting, during this holy month. It is narrated that the holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) would break his fast with dates and water. Even now, centuries later, Muslims revive this Sunnah by breaking their fast with dates and water, just as Muhammad (SAW) did. Dates are not just delicious, but are packed with nutrients and energy to help one regain strength after a day of fasting. May this Ramadaan be filled with blessings and wonderful moments for our young stars. Whether you’re fasting the whole day, or just giving it a try, you’re doing something amazing! Ramadaan Kareem.
