Kids Corner – Sept ‘26

Hello there dear kids and welcome to this September edition of Kids Corner. Spring has sprung, flowers are beginning to bloom and it’s the perfect time for happy faces and bright smiles. September is also National Oral Health Month, so while Spring is bringing colour and sunshine around us, why not make sure your smile is shining just as brightly too. Our teeth do a lot for us every single day. They help us to bite into crunchy apples, chew our favorite foods, speak clearly and of course, show off a big, happy smile. Looking after your teeth is easy when you make it part of your daily routine. Remember the magic 2 x 2 rule… brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes, using fluoride toothpaste. Ask mom to make sure your toothbrush is replaced every three to four months and to take you to the dentist at least once a year. This September and even beyond, put a little spring into your smile. Happy brushing!!

Congratulations to our winners!!!

Below are the three Kids Corner readers who really excelled in our August contest and are our chosen winners! And here we stress chosen winners…as the number of entries we receive each month never ceases to astonish us! It is amazing – and the quality absolutely breathtaking (our judges certainly have their work cut out for them!) We are thrilled! To think that such incredible talent lies in the hands of our young readers! What a great thought, knowing that we can expect only great things from you! We’d say, keep it up, but we just know that’s what you plan on doing in any case, without any prompting from us! Let’s rather say, keep us amazed!

Did you know?

  • Children have 20 baby teeth. These eventually make way for permanent teeth. Most adults have 32 permanent teeth, including wisdom teeth.
  • Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body and forms the protective outer covering of your teeth.
  • A cavity is a hole in your tooth. Bacteria in your mouth use sugars from food and drinks to produce acids that can attract tooth enamel and eventually cause a cavity.
  • Eating too many sweets can harm your teeth as sugary foods and drinks feed the bacteria that cause tooth decay. So, enjoy sweets only occasionally.
  • Brush with a fluoride toothpaste twice every day, as fluoride can help to strengthen tooth enamel.
