In a contested cricket match held on Saturday (May 24) fans were treated to an exciting display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship as Team Gijima Training Academy edged past the Laudium Cricket Team in a thrilling finish at the Laudium Cricket Ground.

Laudium Cricket Team won the toss and elected to bowl first. Gijima Training Academy posted a competitive total of 127 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Thabang Baloyi, who scored a brilliant 40 off 44 balls, supported by a steady knock from Vuyane Motubatsi. Despite a few quick wickets falling in the middle overs, the team managed to cross the 100-run mark, thanks to some aggressive batting in the death overs. In response, Laudium Cricket Team had a poor start and never quite recovered. They were bowled out for just 75 runs in 10 overs, with the middle order offering brief resistance. Disciplined bowling by Sfiso Maseko, who took 2 key wickets, kept constant pressure on the batting side.

The match effectively concluded in the 10th over, with Laudium needing 52 runs from 60 balls. Despite a valiant effort, they fell short by 52 runs, handing Gijima Training Academy a well-deserved and hard-fought victory.
