The Laudium SAPS held Campaign on Gender Based Violence (GBV) & Drugs in Laudium, last Wednesday.
The campaign was spearheaded by head of Social Crime Prevention at the Laudium SAPS Station, Sergeant Simon Chokoe, with more than 20 Laudium Youth Crime Prevention Desk members also in attendance. Those involved in the campaign included SAPS Laudium Social Crime Prevention, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Victim Empowerment Centre (NPO) and Laudium Youth Crime Prevention. There was a visibility foot patrol around sectors 2 & 3 where GBV and drug awareness campaign talks were conducted, to educate the community on the dangers of drug usage and how it affects entire families and entire communities. The community was also encouraged to break the silence on GBV and to report any sort of abuse to the police.
Information on services rendered at the Police Station including the Victim Empowerment Centre was also given. Shop owners were assured of safety around their premises and encouraged to report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the police. More than two hundred and fifty pamphlets were distributed. Together we can make the difference.
