
Vital Men has become an official partner to Laudium Walking Football. Vital Men is a brand of supplements particularly aimed at aged and vulnerable men, to support their health and overall well being.
”Walking football in Laudium, started in November 2020 with 12 participants. As of today, the number of participants has increased to 73 and is growing considerably in popularity. The game is played twice a week on a Sunday morning and Tuesday evenings. This is done to accommodate other enthusiasts who are unable to participate in the Sunday morning session. Whilst many former footballers may be unable to take part in the traditional sport, due to age, injury, illness, frustration or simply a lack of interest, walking football gives you an opportunity to participate in the sport and is open to all, but particularly to those over the age of 50,” said Omar Peera (Oomza).
Oomza added,”Laudium Walking Football invites all ex footballers over the age of 50 to join us in walking football. If you stopped playing football due to injury, old age or any ailments, this is the game for you. Because the games are played on a non-competitive and ‘have fun’ basis, there is no need for aggression, anxiety, or depression. So your chances of getting injured are minimal. Our games ensure social cohesion, fun, respect, patience, laughter, mental stability, and above all ‘well being’ and enjoyment, and at the same time it enhances your fitness level. It will take you back to the old PDFA fun days.” The basic rules of the game are:
- Teams comprise of 5, 6, or 7 a side
- No running with or without the ball
- Tackling & physical contact is forbidden.
- Ball must be played below the knee height
- Goalkeepers are not allowed to come out of the designated area
- Players are not allowed in the goalkeeper’s area
- Kick- ins replace throw -ins
- No Offside’s
- Free Kicks are indirect
- Penalty kicks taken with one-step rule.
- No squealing, swearing, or any form of abuse. The game is played with respect & dignity.
