I relate to just two recent incidents when residents were without water for five consecutive days at the beginning of December 2025 and since Sunday, Jan 25.
Without notification water just ‘evaporated’ from around 9h30 in the morning. Since then we have been receiving excuses and more blatant lies from the City of Tshwane, the Ward Councillor and all their cronies.
Rand Water’s response to the water shutdown was, I quote, ‘Thank you for contacting Rand Water Customer Service Centre. Please note that Rand Water supplies bulk water to municipalities, while the municipalities manage water distribution to households. We recommend logging this outage directly with the City of Tshwane.’
From the response from Rand Water one gains that back passing between the City of Tshwane and Rand Water is evident. No solution is offered to residents.
My observation is the hardships residents face being without water, we have frail, sickly residents that are without water for lengthy periods of time.
There are mafia tankers involved concerning the distribution of water.
One must also take note of the regular power outages, once again in some cases lasting for days in most areas in Laudium.
In large parts of Laudium residents are without streetlights in some cases for years. Regular representation is made to the relevant COT departments, very often placed in file thirteen.
The Councillor seems to be very selective as to who or which areas receive his attention and makes indefinite excuses to others concerning lack of services for street lights and fixing of potholes, etc.
The uncut and overgrown vegetation and weeds on sidewalks and near intersections is a nightmare.
It seems that the COT and Cllr Patel are waiting for a tragedy to happen – await for a leaner to be raped / murdered among the overgrown vegetation.
We do not receive constructive answers from the COT, the office of the Mayor, her MMCs nor directors and the local Councillor.
They seem to be prone to providing lies and falsified responses. They have total disregard for the lives of ratepayers, however they earn monthly humongous salaries.
It would appear that PR Councillors in Ward 61 do not have a say in the affairs of Ward 61 – they have been threatened to stay away.
The Laudium Sun should undertake investigative journalism iro service delivery in Laudium, with bribery and corruption evident within the ruling party.
