The spirit of community togetherness was on full display last Friday evening (August 7), when supporters gathered at the Suleman Convention Centre in Erasmia for a fundraising evening organised by the Pretoria Muslim Trust (PMT) Burial Committee. The gathering was held to raise funds and awareness for local burial welfare initiatives, including the continued development of a burial centre, burial infrastructure such as a hearse and a burial fund to assist those who are unable to afford burial fees. Master of Ceremonies, Manzoor Alimia, guided proceedings during the evening, which began with the ever popular Pretoria Muslim Youth Brigade making a grand entrance into the hall. The evening brought together members of the Muslim community, in support of the various burial initiatives. Guests, including some who travelled from further afield, were treated to a spiritual programme and scrumptious meal with a Qawwali performance rounding off the evening’s proceedings. The fundraising evening highlighted the need for continued community participation and financial support towards Muslim burial services, particularly in assisting families who may not have the means to meet burial-related costs during their time of bereavement. The event also provided an opportunity for residents and supporters to come together in support of the work being undertaken by the PMT Burial Committee and it’s planned burial-related initiatives. Riaz Ismail of the PMT Burial Committee told the Laudium Sun, “The Pretoria Muslim Trust Burial Committee extends deepest gratitude and appreciation to every individual, sponsor and volunteer who contributed to making the evening an extraordinary success.”

The function served not only as a moment to reflect on the sacred duty of serving the community during times of loss, but also as a powerful drive to raise much-needed funds and awareness for local burial welfare initiatives, including the continuing development of the burial centre, burial infrastructure such as the hearse and a burial fund for those unable to afford burial fees, amongst others.
The evening opened on an inspiring note, with the infinite mercy of the ALMIGHTY (S.W.T) and the blessings of the beloved PROPHET MUHAMMED (S.A.W).
The Master of Ceremonies, Manzoor Alimia guided the proceedings with eloquence and warmth with the community gathering in unity, purpose and shared responsibility.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was nothing short of remarkable. Guests, many traveling from far and wide, were treated to a soul-stirring spiritual program. The recitations and praises filled the room with devotion, setting an extraordinarily uplifted ambiance. No gathering is complete without exceptional hospitality and good food and the culinary team exceeded all expectations in this regard. Attendees were treated to a scrumptious meal
prepared with great care and generosity, with the Qawwali thereafter keeping all in attendance enthralled. The event served as a strong reminder that maintaining high-quality, compassionate burial services requires continuous community support. Members of the PMT Burial Committee expressed immense gratitude to all donors, sponsors and supporters whose generous contributions ensure that no family is left without dignity in their time of bereavement. As the night drew to a close, attendees left with full hearts, inspired spirits and a renewed commitment to standing together as one united community.
