As the cold weather continues to bite, many vulnerable families in Laudium are struggling to stay warm and put food on the table. In response, Encounter Hope, the community outreach arm of Encounter Church in Clubview, Centurion, visited Laudium this past Friday (July 17), as part of its annual winter drive, in conjunction with Bethesda Revival Church. Around 150 people received blankets and maize meal, while volunteers also served warm meals and distributed ministry tracts carrying messages of hope and encouragement. Team members also spent time speaking to residents, listening to their challenges and praying with individuals and families who requested support. Encounter Hope said the outreach was aimed not only at meeting practical needs, but also at reminding residents that they are valued and cared for. The Laudium visit forms part of the organisation’s wider community work, which includes feeding schemes, school support projects, dignity drives for young girls, Christmas initiatives and visits to old age homes.

With winter continuing to affect many vulnerable families, Encounter Hope, visited Laudium last Friday (July 17) to provide practical support and encouragement to local residents, in conjunction with Bethesda Revival Church.
Encounter Hope, the community outreach arm of Encounter Church, based in Clubview, held its annual winter drive, aiming to bring relief to communities facing hardship during the colder months. Approximately 150 people received essential items, including blankets and maize meal, helping to meet immediate needs while offering comfort during the winter season. In addition to the practical assistance, volunteers served warm meals and distributed ministry tracts containing messages of hope and encouragement. The day was about far more than providing physical resources; it was an opportunity to connect with people personally, listen to their stories, and remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Throughout the outreach, members of the Encounter Hope team also spent time praying with individuals and families who requested prayer. Many shared personal challenges, giving volunteers the opportunity to offer encouragement, compassionate support, and the hope found in Jesus Christ. The atmosphere was one of compassion, unity, and genuine care as people from different backgrounds came together to serve one another.
“Our heart is not only to meet practical needs but also to bring hope,” said the Encounter Hope team. “Every blanket, every meal, every conversation, and every prayer is an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus in a tangible way.”
The Laudium outreach is one of many initiatives undertaken by Encounter Hope throughout the year. The organisation partners with local communities and organisations to facilitate a variety of programmes, including feeding schemes, school support initiatives, dignity drives for young girls, Christmas celebrations, and visits to old age homes. Each project is driven by a commitment to serve with compassion and restore hope where it is needed most.
