Ambassador of The Garden Social Services, Maymoona (Moona) Chouglay, led the ‘World Cane Day’ this weekend in Atteridgeville, with hundreds of supporters from all over Tshwane, including Laudium in attendance.
The event, which took place this past Saturday (Oct 12) highlighted the challenges the visually impaired face, on a daily basis. A march through the streets of Atterideville saw local residents welcoming the hundreds who took part in the march, which was led by Moona and others from The Garden Social Services, together with Cllr Patel and members of the Pakistan Association. The event included talks at a nearby hall about the plight of the visually impaired. A police band entertained the enthusiastic crowd. Moona said, “I am overwhelmed by the support received from the community of Atteridgeville and surrounding areas, including Laudium and our partnership with the Laudium Sun as our media partner since inception. Please visit our Home for the Visually Impaired situated opposite the Jumuah Musjid on Jewel Str in Laudium and be part of this ongoing blessing.”
