MSA Tuks’s clip of kindness uplifts Klipgat community…

In the spirit of Ramadaan and community upliftment, members of the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at the University of Pretoria visited Klipgat earlier this month to distribute food hampers to learners at a local madrassah.

MSA Tuks Chairperson, Shahmir Zahid, told the Laudium Sun, “The initiative formed part of MSA Tuks’ broader Ramadaan outreach efforts aimed at supporting vulnerable communities. After travelling from Garden Social Services in Laudium, the team arranged the hampers before the children were called out of their classrooms in an orderly line. Under the guidance of their Moulana, the learners recited Surah Al-Lahab, Surah Al Fatiha and the Kalima Tayyibah, impressing those present with their confident and heartfelt recitation. Following this, MSA Tuks committee members distributed bananas and hampers to the children, which they were to take home to their families. In total, 250 hampers were provided, offering much-needed support to households in the community during the holy month.”

Shahmir added, “We also addressed the children, delivering a short but inspiring message encouraging them to remain committed to their studies and future goals. We reminded them that success is not about always being the best, but about perseverance, sincerity and consistent effort.”

The morning ended with photographs taken alongside the learners and their hampers before they were dismissed. The initiative reflected the values of compassion, service and generosity that define Ramadaan, while reinforcing MSA Tuks’ ongoing commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
