The Laudium Sun has received several complaints from local residents concerning a recent photo of ANC Councillor Patel, taken together with Pakistani-born, Chaudhry Naeem Anwar Tahir and Firouz Dockrat, who are all standing as candidates for the ANC in the forthcoming Local Government Elections.
The photo, taken during an ANC campaign, where President Cyril Ramaphosa was also present, caused an outcry as Naeem Chaudhry was holding a Coca-Cola drink, which he presumably was drinking. Residents say that Naeem Patel practices double standards concerning support for Palestine as in one breath he has publically called for residents to boycott Coca-Cola products due to their support for Israel, but on the other hand, Patel had no problem with his close friend drinking Coca-Cola at the ANC function, who even proudly took a photo with the coldrink in his hand. Questions were also raised as to why the ANC, which professes to support Palestine had Coca-Cola products at their function and why Naeem Patel did not stop his friend from drinking the coke.
