No, no, no… No award for Zainub Sathaar as wad of protests pile up

Controversial estate agent, Zainub Sathaar who stands accused of being unprofessional when dealing with clients, is once more making headlines, but for the wrong reasons.

This time her nomination for a ‘Women in Business Award’ has abruptly been withdrawn. This follows an article featured in the Laudium Sun two weeks ago (Aug 29), whereby it was reported that Zainub of Zee Prop had sold the Laudium house of her client, Ismail Ali and his wife Mariam, to Cllr Patel. However, Patel had later all of a sudden cancelled the deal claiming that there was an inquiry by the Tshwane Council on the property for tampering of
the electricity meter. It was then discovered that Zainub, who was aware of the details of a bigger house in Erasmia that her client Ismail Ali had made an offer for, had then allegedly passed the info to Clr Patel who subsequently made a higher offer for the Erasmia house, which was the reason for him cancelling his offer for the Laudium house. This infuriated Ismail and his wife Mariam, who accused Zainub of being dishonest and acting unethically, adding that they found Cllr Patel to be vindictive and manipulative. Subsequent to the article, Zainub was nominated for a ‘Women in Business Award’ which final event is to take place next month, with Zainub’s nomination proudly posted on her Facebook page.

BACKLASH
However there was a huge backlash, as soon as the nomination was posted, with many locals calling on the organisers to withdraw Zainub’s nomination, in view of the serious allegations made against her. The Laudium Sun spoke to a representative from the organising team, who said, “We were not aware of the article whereby complaints were made against Zainub. It was only when we started getting calls from various people who were furious and asking why Zainub was nominated, given the serious allegations made against her, that we read the Laudium Sun article. In order to verify the allegations as reported, I then spoke to the person who complained about Zainub, a certain Mariam Ismail, who told me that what was reported in the Laudium Sun, concerning the matter between her and her husband and Zainub, regarding the sale of their house, was all true. That is when we decided, under the circumstances to withdraw the nomination of Zainub for the ‘Women in Business Award.’ Should Zainub’s name somehow clear in this matter, we are prepared to consider nominating her again.”
