It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Champakbhai Chagan, a beloved member of the S. Jivan family, who was born on November 6, 1938, in Asiatic Bazaar, Pretoria. Champakbhai was the fifth of seven children and grew up to be a vital part of the S. Jivan & Sons business, which his family established over a century ago at the corner of Boom and Cowie Street. Remarkably, this cherished family business has thrived for 107 years and remains one of Pretoria’s oldest, a true testament to their dedication.
Champakbhai joined the family business at the age of 18 in 1957, bringing his passion and commitment to its success. He married Indirabhen Chagan in 1962, and together they raised three wonderful children: Mauwna, Sanjay, and Vimal. Beyond his business life, Champakbhai was a warm and active member of the community. He was one of the founding members of the Laudium Bowling Club, established in 1984, and played bowls with joy for over 40 years, even competing in major tournaments across the country.
A keen sportsman and dedicated businessman, Champakbhai also served the Indian community with kindness, acting as a Trustee for the Shree Pretoria Hindu Seva Samaj. His gentle spirit and generosity touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed. May his soul find peace, and may we all find comfort in the memories of his kindness. Om Shanti.

Jacaranda Nomads mourn the loss of gentle giant Champak. He will be remembered for his friendliness and soft spoken manner, but on the greens he was a player to be reckoned with. Champak will leave a empty space in the Nomads family and will be surely missed. Our condolences to all the family and friends. RIP Champak.

The management team and players of the Laudium Bowling Club express its heartfelt tributes and deep gratitude to Champakbhai Chagan, a prominent businessman and dedicated bowler who sadly passed away recently. His passion for bowling not only led him to win numerous trophies for his club but he was respected throughout the bowling fraternity for his humble nature, his kindness and his generosity. He will be sorely missed as one of the “gentleman bowlers” who contributed so much to the sport in Laudium. We pray that the Almighty grant his Atma Sadgati and his bereaved family the strength to overcome this great loss. Aum Shanti.

Beloved mother, daughter and sister “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Samantha Morgan, a cherished mother, daughter, and sister, who left this world on October 19, 2025 at the age of 40 at West Park.
Born on December 29, 1984, Pretoria West, Samantha lived a life filled with love, compassion, and strength. She was the heart of her family — a devoted mother whose gentle spirit, selflessness, and unwavering love touched everyone around her.
