13 December 1977- 21 September 2025
With heavy hearts, we pay tribute to the passing of Jithen Govind, who departed this life on 21 September 2025 at the age of 47 years old.
Born in Laudium, Pretoria, Jithen was the beloved son of Vimla Govind and the late Dayal Govind.
Throughout his life, Jithen was known for his benevolence and dependability. He was the epitome of silent strength and monumental sacrifice; always being of service to others, even when his own cup was empty. Having a rich sense of duty– he was devoted to serving his family, community and friends. He was a dedicated member of the Shree Hindu Pretoria Seva Samaj, spending many hours at the mandhir as a child and later as an adult. Jithen’s character flowed with wit and humour; always having a joke at the ready (even in the most mundane moments). His charisma lined every room he entered with joy and warmth. He was a beacon of exuberance and mischief as he was always ready for an adventure.
Jithen was a passionate supporter of Liverpool FC—many would say it was his life’s passion. He loved the club so deeply that it is easy to imagine a stand at Anfield Stadium bearing his name.
He is survived by his wife, Narisha Kalan Govind, his two children, his dogs, Slushy and Cuba, his mother Vimla, his uncle, Lalla Walla, his brothers, Veenesh, Sanjay, Milan, and the extended Govind and Kalan families.
He will forever be remembered through his children and by the memories made with those who loved him.
