Laudium Care Services for the Aged (LCSA) hosted a special combined Mother’s and Father’s Day celebration event for seniors, this past Wednesday (May 21), with about 130 elders attending the heartwarming event at the Laudium Civic Centre. The seniors were treated to a scrumptious lunch, accompanied by musical entertainment and the smiles on the elders’ faces said it all, as joy and gratitude lit up the room throughout the afternoon. Many swayed gently to the music, some tapping along in rhythm, while others simply sat back and soaked in the atmosphere with contented hearts. Adding to the delight of the day, some of the seniors who celebrated their birthdays during this period, were presented with bright ‘Happy Birthday’ sashes and gifted with beautiful bunches of flowers, drawing warm applause from fellow attendees. Deputy Chairperson of the LCSA, Aneesa Cassim Noormohamed, told the Laudium Sun, “It’s so important that we honour our elders. They have given so much to their families and indeed the community – this is the least we can do for the special seniors. It is indeed a reminder that they are seen, valued and cherished. While it may seem like a small gesture, the emotional impact on the seniors is immeasurable, as even a simple smile or kind word goes a long way in making them feel loved. Events like these demonstrate the power of community spirit and the importance of coming together. Moments like these not only uplift our elders, but also remind us of the deep respect and love they continue to inspire in all of us, showing that their presence remains a guiding force within our community fabric. We are also grateful to all our donors who contributed to making the event a massive success, including our media partner the Laudium Sun, “
