There was much enthusiasm on the streets of Erasmia as Al Ghazali College held their annual Neon Walk last Friday (Oct 4), in solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and against the genocide being carried out on the Palestinians.
As expected, members from the community and surrounding areas came out in their thousands to support the Palestinian cause, making the event a resounding success. The event started at 2pm, with attendees visiting various stalls at the Al Ghazali complex, with the highlight of the event being the Neon Walk through the streets of Erasmia during which many participants sported neon lights on their heads. Such was the enthusiasm of the participants for the Palestinian cause that the event ended way past midnight. There was something exciting for all those in attendance including raffle prizes, toy, jewellery and clothing stalls as well as camel and horse rides. Two drumming sessions carried out by the PMWU organization and the Pretoria Muslim Youth Brigade also kept the crowd enthralled. Of course, no event of this nature is complete without various stalls offering scrumptious culinary delights, satisfying the tummies of the attendees. The organizers thanked all the sponsors and attendees for making the event such a success. A special thanks was also extended to Abdul Kader Kurtha (KK), the dedicated teachers and young and aspiring students of Al Ghazali College for their amazing work ethic and for volunteering throughout the entire evening, making the event a resounding success. The organizers pledged to donate all proceeds from the event towards Palestine and will be shortly informing the public as to how much was collected and how much will be sent out to Palestine.
