Pensioners at Bangladesh Heights still waiting for feedback from ANC’s Modise on water account – Management invites flats owners to inspect financials..

Questions surrounding the management and finances of Bangladesh Heights continue to circulate on various social media platforms.

Chairperson Bangladesh Heights Management, Mutafa Hasware (Pinky).

In response, the Bangladesh Heights Body Corporate has issued the following statement, addressing the concerns raised and providing an update on the ongoing water account crisis:

“There have recently been messages circulating on public platforms from certain individuals questioning the finances and management of Bangladesh Heights. Some of the questions raised included:

  • How much money was collected?
  • Who received the funds?
  • What were the funds used for?
  • Are any trustees in arrears with their levies?
  • How many pensioners are in arrears?
  • How many owners are in arrears?
  • Which political party was responsible for the cutting of services to Bangladesh Heights?

There were also comparisons made between the levies charged at Bangladesh Heights and those of other complexes.

As the Body Corporate, we have repeatedly invited these individuals to request a formal meeting with the Board, as we have nothing to hide and are prepared to address any legitimate concerns through the proper channels.

To date, no such meeting has been requested.

We would also like to make it clear that certain information cannot be disclosed on public platforms. Some donors specifically requested that their identities remain confidential, and the Body Corporate is obligated to respect those wishes. Financial and owner-related information is also subject to privacy and governance requirements and cannot simply be published on social media.

It is disappointing that efforts were made to obtain information through public accusations and political rhetoric rather than by engaging directly with the Board. In some cases, the identities of those demanding information are not even known to us.

If any resident, owner, committee member, or concerned individual requires information regarding Bangladesh Heights, we encourage them to contact the Board directly so that matters can be addressed in a transparent, responsible, and lawful manner.
Thank you.

Feedback on the Meeting with Deputy Mayor Eugine Modise
On 26 May 2026, a meeting was held between the Bangladesh Heights Body Corporate and ANC Deputy Mayor Eugine Modise, who was accompanied by Councillor Naeem Patel, to discuss the ongoing water account crisis affecting Bangladesh Heights. During the meeting, Mr Modise committed to bringing the relevant municipal teams, including the Affordable Services Committee, to engage with residents of Bangladesh Heights on Saturday, 30 May 2026. To date, no such engagement has taken place, and no feedback has been received from Mr Modise regarding the commitments made during the meeting. Councillor Patel has conducted three follow-ups via email seeking an update, but no response has been received. It has now been more than a month since the meeting, and no action has been taken to assist the residents of Bangladesh Heights regarding this matter. The residents remain concerned and continue to await feedback and intervention from the relevant authorities.”
