The Pretoria Navyuga Mandal marked a significant milestone with the successful hosting of its 28th Annual Hanuman Chalisa Recitals this past Sunday (April 19), at the Shree Pretoria Hindu Seva Samaj.
Preparations for the sacred event began as early as Friday, April 18, with dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, to ensure every detail was in place. The build-up to the event saw an inspiring level of involvement from both youth and community members, who came together in a spirit of unity and ‘seva.’ From setting up the venue to coordinating logistics, décor, sound arrangements, and hospitality, the organising team demonstrated exceptional commitment and teamwork.
The Pretoria Navyuga Mandal togther with the SPHSS Executive Committee, supported by a passionate team of volunteers, played a pivotal role in planning and executing the event. Months of preparation went into coordinating participants, managing schedules, securing sponsorships, and ensuring that every aspect of the programme reflected both professionalism and devotion. The youth wing, in particular, stood out for their energy and dedication, taking on key responsibilities and showcasing strong leadership throughout the process.
The event brought together devotees, community members, and spiritual enthusiasts from across the region for a day filled with devotion, unity, and cultural pride. The continuous recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa created a deeply spiritual atmosphere, resonating throughout the auditorium and inspiring all those in attendance.
A highlight of this year’s programme was the special guest appearance by internationally acclaimed devotional artist Bhavik Haria, who travelled all the way from the United Kingdom. He was accompanied by Vivek Parshortam, adding a rich musical dimension to the recitals. Their presence elevated the spiritual experience, captivating the audience and bringing a unique vibrancy to the event. Bhajan groups were allocated time slots throughout the day, allowing various groups and individuals to contribute to the collective chanting. The seamless coordination and dedication of volunteers ensured that the programme ran smoothly, maintaining both the sanctity and energy of the recitals from start to finish. This year’s event once again highlighted the ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting Hindu traditions within the community. Families, youth and elders came together in a spirit of seva (selfless service), demonstrating the enduring relevance of cultural and religious gatherings in strengthening communal bonds. Organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers whose support made the event a resounding success.
