Following two misleading posts on social media platforms recently, calls have been made for residents not to be gullible and to be cautious when reading posts on social media platforms, claiming to be notices from ‘the family’, which posts have then merely been forwarded to various other groups or platforms.
Admins of these social media platforms should also be cautious and verify what they are posting as there are many mischievous posts floating around. This follows two ‘misleading’ and unverified posts that were circulated recently, claiming to be from the concerned respected families.
In the first post circulated by two local females, Saajidah Suliman, a teacher at Tshwane Muslim School and Aadilah Suliman from Haroon’s Printers, who are sisters-in law to each other, a post was circulated by the pair, soon after the Laudium Sun published an article of a suicide by a local girl, Vaishnavi Parekh. The post purported to be from the parents of the girl, stated in ‘polished’ English, (despite both parents not being fluent in English and who communicated with the Laudium Sun in Hindi) alleged that the parents claimed that the reason for the suicide which was quoted by others in the article, was false and more so that the father of the girl denied being approached by the reporter concerned. While the Laudium Sun does not want to dwell very much on this matter, due to its sensitive nature, the Laudium Sun feels obliged to place on record, that we stand by the story as being truthful, as per comments received and more so, as we received further comments from others after the publication of the article, giving more compelling reasons as to why they believe the girl committed suicide. We also have the time and date of the photo taken of the father, as proof that our reporters did in fact, approach the father for comment after the suicide.

sister-in-law, Saajidah Suliman, is implicated in circulating a mischievous and misleading post.
In another misleading post circulated early this week, following the tragic death of Younosbhai Bhoola, of Cuprene Str, Laudium, an apparent statement was made, purportedly by the Bhoola family concerning the alleged use of the ID card of the deceased by the CMB burial committee, for purposes not sanctioned by the family. This purported statement by the family was sent to one social media platform, seemingly by a person who hides his/her true identity but goes under the name of a certain AB Ramjee, which post then went viral on various social media platforms. It was only after the intervention of the chair of CMB, that the truth was revealed and the purported statement was proven to be false.
Chairperson of CMB, Nassir Ismail, who was concerned about the statement floating around all over, contacted the brother of the late Younosbhai, Mufti Bhoola to get more information about the said statement. However, Mufti Bhoola was surprised and assured Nassir and even the Laudium Sun that the statement did not come from his family. Mufti Bhoola sent a statement which read, “The post was not bc’d on behalf of any member of our family. The CMB assisted us and was very helpful with regards to preparation for the Mayat. (Which is part of iymaan). Fa Jazaakumullaah Khairan fid Daarain Ahsanul Jazaa. -Abdul Khaaliq Bhoola. Was Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu.”

Nassir told the Laudium Sun, “In the context of the recent social media rumour that the Bhoola family was upset with a photograph of their deceased family member “allegedly” supplied by CMB to a media group, has confirmed to us that such allegations did not emanate from their family. Therefore it is clear that this is the work of mischief makers who want to create discord between CMB and the public for ulterior purposes. We urge the public to be circumspect when receiving such messages without verification.” Kamal Jaffer of the CMB, who assisted the family with the burial, including arranging the post mortem told the Laudium Sun, “I am not interested in politics. My main goal is to assist the family of the deceased person in ensuring that the burial is done as soon as possible and that is what I did.”
The Laudium Sun requests anyone who has any information on the true identity of AB Ramjee to kindly contact the Laudium Sun on, info@nismedia.co.za.
