Muslims throughout the globe and in South Africa, will be commemorating the birth of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on Monday evening (Aug 24 – 12 Rabi-ul Awwal, 1448), with many Mosques throughout the country, including Laudium and Erasmia, glowing with green lights in celebration of the blessed month. Almighty (SWT) says in the Holy Quran that Muhammad (PBUH) was sent ‘…as a mercy for humankind… [and] all that exists’ (Quran 21 – 107). French poet-politician, Alphonse de la Martaine wrote, “If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astonishing results are the three criteria of a human genius, who could dare compare any great man in history with Muhammed? This man moved not only armies, legislators, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one third of the then inhabited world… As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?”
*The streets of Laudium will come alive on Tuesday afternoon (Aug 25), as the 27th annual Juloos, a procession in honour of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), takes place, which will commence at around 4:45pm from the PMT Jummah Masjid on Jewel Street, Laudium and end at the Dar-ul-Uloom Complex on Taj Street, Laudium. Niyaz will be served thereafter.
