It is with profound sadness, heavy hearts and unending love that we announce the passing of a beloved son, Shane Jerome Naidoo, who was taken from us unexpectedly on June 13, leaving a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

Shane, cherished child of the Late Dixon and Michelle Naidoo, grandson of Sylvester (Sally) Rai and Premala (Govender), brought immeasurable joy, laughter and light into the lives of all who knew him. From the very beginning, Shane’s vibrant spirit, unforgettable smile and gentle presence made ordinary moments extraordinary. He was known for his kindness, caring deeply for family and friends—making people feel seen, valued, and loved with their words, action and quiet strength.

Shane’s passions, dreams and the memories he created will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Though his time here was far too brief, the impact he made will last a lifetime. Shane leaves behind a legacy of love that cannot be measured and will never be forgotten.

Shane grew up in Laudium, graduated in the USA and moved back to his beloved country South Africa, that he shared close ties with. A gifted athlete from a young age, Shane had a deep passion for soccer and cricket. Family and friends remember countless hours spent playing sports, cheering on favourite teams, and sharing excitement during major tournaments. Shane’s enthusiasm was contagious, inspiring teammates and loved ones alike. Soccer was more than a game to Shane—it was a source of connection, joy, and treasured memories shared with family across continents. Shane’s late grandfather, Sylvester (Sally) Rai was also fondly remembered as a well-known soccer player, whose talents and sportsmanship inspired many and brought pride to their family.

Shane’s late father, Dixon Naidoo, a beloved and respected police officer whose dedication and integrity left a lasting legacy within our community. His tireless SAP work touched many lives, earning widespread admiration and gratitude. The community still mourns his loss and his contributions will always be remembered.

It is with profound sorrow that we recall Shane’s loss of his entire family— Dixon, Michelle, Wayne & Sherwin —27 years ago, a tragedy that continues to be deeply felt by all who knew them. Shane is now reunited in heaven with his beloved family. Their cherished memories live on in the hearts of friends, family, and the wider community, who honour their legacy through kindness and continued service. Shane’s story reminds us of the power of love that transcends time and loss.

Shane is lovingly remembered by a devoted grandmother, Premala Govender, along with Aunts, Riana, Natashur & Beverly, Uncle Jonathan, cousins and all whose lives were touched by such a beautiful soul. Together, we honour a life that brought light, kindness and meaning to so many.

A mass for Shane Jerome Naidoo will be held at St Thomas Catholic Church (Pendant Str, Laudium) on Saturday (July 25) from 9:30am–10:30am followed by a procession to the Laudium cemetery from 11am–12 noon, for the Rite of Commital and burial of ashes. In this time of deep sorrow, let us find strength together in the memories we shared. May we carry Shane’s light forward in our lives. Shane will be forever missed and forever loved.
