Tshwane Mayor visits Laudium in support of Prajay… residents give thumbs up for Prajay

City of Tshwane Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya recently visited Laudium as part of an ActionSA visibility drive in support of Ward 61 Councillor candidate, Prajay Ramjee, ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The Laudium Sun freelance photographer captured these scenes during the Mayor’s recent visit to Laudium.

Prajay, who currently serves as a Proportional Representation (PR) Councillor in the City of Tshwane, welcomed the Mayor and senior ActionSA leadership for a programme of community engagement, business visits and discussions around pressing local concerns.

The delegation walked through the Laudium CBD, visiting several local establishments, including; Super Bake and Take, OK Laudium and Laudium Halaal Meats, among others.

During these visits, Mayor Moya and Prajay interacted with business owners and members of the public, strengthening connections between the community and Municipal leadership.

Throughout the engagements, residents also praised the work undertaken by Prajay in Ward 61, expressing appreciation for his efforts and continued involvement in community matters. The positive feedback reflected the relationships Prajay has built with residents through his work in the area. A significant part of the Mayor’s visit included an engagement with residents of Bangladesh Heights, where longstanding Municipal billing and debt-related concerns have become a growing source of frustration.

The residential complex is facing an outstanding Municipal account of approximately R7 million, with mounting interest and threatened legal action against its Body Corporate. Many residents there are elderly pensioners and social grant recipients, raising concerns about the financial impact of the situation. Residents used the opportunity to explain their circumstances directly to the Mayor and appealed for assistance in finding a workable resolution.

After hearing their concerns, Dr Moya agreed to facilitate a meeting with senior City of Tshwane officials to discuss the matter and explore possible ways forward. Accompanying the Mayor were ActionSA Member of Parliament Alan Beesley, Tshwane Regional Chairperson Derrick Mahlangu, Regional Secretary Katlego Mphahlele and Centurion Constituency Chairperson Hluphi Gafane.

During the visit, Dr Moya expressed her support for Prajay and extended her best wishes ahead of the upcoming Municipal elections.

The visit formed part of ActionSA’s ongoing engagement with Ward 61 communities, providing residents and business owners with an opportunity to raise matters directly with senior Municipal leadership.

For Prajay, the engagements reinforced the importance of remaining accessible to residents, listening to their concerns and continuing his work within the community as he seeks election as Ward 61 councillor.
