Election fever is certainly heating up, with various political parties and Ward candidates throwing their hats into the ring to get a share of the local political pie, for the next 5 years.
With less than two months to go to the big day, November 4 (a public holiday), a number of Ward candidates contesting Ward 61, together with their political heavy weights, have made their appearances in the area, to canvass for votes. All of a sudden, as canvassing intensifies, potholes will be attended to, service delivery complaints will be attended to and even a number of ‘leaders’ will be honoured, all for the sake of getting votes. Politicians have already started converging into the area, from the ANC’s Firoz Cachalia (Police Minister) to Nasiphi Moya (Tshwane Mayor) of ActionSA, to this week the Mayoral candidate for the DA, Cilliers Brink and his team making their presence known in the area. Registered voters are again given their once in five year chance to elect their Ward Councillor and political party to jointly run the Tshwane Metro Council, thus the wooing and promises will intensify as the election date draws near. Registered voters will be given two ballot forms on Election Day, (November 4)… one to vote for their ward candidate and the other to vote for the political party of their choice.
While the final list of ward candidates contesting Ward 61 has not been released by the IEC, a number of candidates or their parties have informed the Laudium Sun of their intention to stand in Ward 61.

candidate. Faizel is the MD/CEO of Unitech Consulting, spearheading design and delivery of innovative telecommunications.
