“Dignify Her” is a youth-driven initiative founded by sisters Farah Syed, a third year LLB student at the University of Pretoria, and Laiqa Syed, a Grade 11 student at LSS.
Granddaughters of the late Uncle Dawood (IIS), the sisters are also young entrepreneurs running their own crochet business. With the blessings of the Almighty, part of the proceeds from their business is directed toward this inspiring campaign, which aims to empower young girls by promoting hygiene, confidence, and self-worth.

The campaign focuses on providing dignity packs to schoolgirls, ensuring they have access to essential hygiene products. Each pack contains sanitary pads, soap, roll-on deodorant, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. By addressing these basic needs, “Dignify Her” helps girls maintain personal hygiene and develop the confidence to fully participate in school and social activities.
In August, the sisters visited Jacaranda Primary School, where they personally handed out the packs to students. Their initiative since extended to Andrew Anthony School on September 9, where they continued their mission to spread care, confidence, and hope among young girls. “With every smile we received, we were reminded why we do what we do—to uplift, empower, and remind every girl that she is worthy of dignity,” Farah and Laiqa Syed said. They highlighted that these visits are just a few of the many events planned as part of the campaign and encouraged others in the community to get involved.

The “Dignify Her” campaign stands out as a community-centered effort led by youth, demonstrating how small initiatives can make a big difference in empowering young women. By providing practical support and promoting self-respect, the campaign is inspiring girls to embrace their potential and reminding the community of the importance of dignity, confidence, and care for all young women.
