It was an evening of spirituality, talent and celebration at Al-Ghazali College last Friday (August 28), when the school hosted its annual Milad-un-Nabi Jalsa 2026 in honour of the life, legacy and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). For the first time, the Milad-un Nabi Jalsa was open to the public, with over 600 parents, family members and members of the community joining teachers, staff and members of the School Board for the programme, which saw learners taking centre stage and showcasing their talents. Learners from Grade R through to Grade 11 participated in the Jalsa, with both the school’s youngest learners and senior students playing a part in the evening’s proceedings. The programme featured a wide variety of performances, including Zikr presentations, naats and nashids, Islamic rap performances, plays and renditions, qiraat and poetry presented in various languages. Learners also delivered inspirational speeches, together with a number of other performances during the evening. The Jalsa provided learners across the different grades with an opportunity to perform before a large audience while celebrating the occasion together with their families, teachers and fellow learners.
Young hearts unite in praise as Al-Ghazali Co lege hosts Milad-un-Nabi Jalsa
Al-Ghazali College proudly hosted its Annual Milad-un-Nabi Jalsa 2026 last Friday (August 28), in honour of the blessed life, legacy, character and timeless teachings of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
For the first time, the Milad-un-Nabi Jalsa was open to the public, with an astounding over 600 people in attendance.
Parents, family members, members of the community, teachers, staff and members of the School Board gathered together to witness a truly memorable celebration of the love of the beloved Prophet (PBUH).
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and spirituality as learners took to the stage and showcased their remarkable talents, confidence, creativity and skills.
What made the Jalsa particularly special was the involvement of learners from Grade R all the way through to Grade 11.
The programme featured a wonderful variety of items, including: Zikr presentations by the boys and girls, beautiful naats and nashids, Islamic rap performances, meaningful plays and renditions, soul-stirring qiraat, poetry presented in a variety of languages, inspirational speeches and many other creative and memorable performances.
Educator, Muhummad Kauthar Razak, told the Laudium Sun, “Each presentation demonstrated not only the immense talent within our school, but also the dedication, confidence and commitment of our learners and staff. From the youngest learners to senior students, the entire school community came together to present a programme that beautifully reflected the spirit of Muhabbat-e-Rasulullah. The Jalsa was a powerful reminder that education and success extend far beyond academic achievement. At Al-Ghazali College, we strive to develop the whole learner, nurturing their academic abilities while simultaneously developing their confidence, creativity, communication, character, leadership and spiritual identity. The exceptional performances witnessed on the evening demonstrated the wealth of talent that exists within our learners and reinforced our belief that every child has unique abilities and potential waiting to be nurtured.
Our teachers, staff, School Board and parents watched with immense pride as our learners confidently showcased their abilities before a large audience. Al-Ghazali College remains committed to producing holistic leaders through excellence within an Islamic context — young men and women who are academically capable, confident, compassionate, principled and firmly rooted in the teachings and beautiful example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Jalsa was therefore much more than a school programme. It was a celebration of our learners, our values, our community and, above all, our love for Rasulullah.
