About 300 residents participated in a march on Sunday (July 6) in honour of the day of Ashura also known as Karbala day (Muharram 10).

The gathering, organized by Dar e Batool (Swh) – Laudium branch, started on Emerald Str, under the watchful eye of the specialised police unit, who videotaped the event. A number of observers also attended the event, inclduing members of the EFF and domestic workers from the neighbourhood. Karbala Day was held in remembrance of the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH)’s grandson, Imaam Hussain (AS), his pious family members & companions, by the enemy of Islam. Lunch was served thereafter at the Laudium Primary School Hall for about 500 people.
