Eid-ul-Adha greetings from Mina

These local residents who performed Hajj this year (1447), sent Eid greetings from Mina…Ibrahim Khan, Mohamed Hassan Omar, Saabir Khan, Asif Shaik Mohamed and Mubeen Gafoor.

The sacred festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Adha 1447, is being celebrated today (Thursday, May 28), in South Africa and in many parts of the world. During this significant period of Hajj, Muslims across the globe, will be performing the act of Qurbani – the sacrifice of a sheep or goat. The sacrifice that is an integral part of Qurbani, recalls the millennia-old act of faith by the beloved Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was prepared to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (AS) in complete obedience to the command of the Almighty. Through divine mercy, a sheep was then placed in the stead of Ismail (AS). In remembrance of this extraordinary act of submission and devotion, Muslims perform the Qurbani annually, which can be carried out anytime after the Eid prayer until the end of the Hajj period, which ends on Saturday (Hanafi) at sunset in South Africa. The Laudium Sun joins the group of locals who performed Hajj this year (pictured above in Mina), in wishing the entire Muslim
community a joyous and blessed Eid, filled with peace, happiness and prosperity. May this special day bring you closer to your dear ones and strengthen the spirit of unity, compassion and gratitude. Eid Mubarak! Our thoughts are also with those who are on pilgrimage in Makkah. May their Hajj be accepted and their return home safe.
