Local padel sensation, Fayzaan Anverali (13), of Raslouw Gardens (near Laudium), continues to raise the South African flag high after recently competing at the prestigious Dubai FIP Promises Tournament, where he impressed against some of the top junior players from around the world. Fayzaan is currently ranked number 1 in South Africa for U16 and number 2 for U14. The young sportsman who attends ‘Leaders Today School’ in Centurion told the Laudium Sun, “The tournament was a big challenge for me in many ways, but it turned out to be an incredible experience and I learned so much from it. Experiences like this only make me stronger, more confident and even more determined to improve myself.” The tournament took place over three days with Fayzaan reaching the quarter finals in the U16 category and the semifinals in the U14 category. The event attracted players from Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Spain, India, Canada, Egypt and South Africa, with top coaches and players in attendance.
