As the blessed month of Ramadaan gently comes to an end today (Friday), Muslims in many parts of the world will celebrate one of the most cherished occasions on the Islamic calendar… Eid-ul-Fitr. In South Africa, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday,
March 21), coinciding with Human Rights Day, this year. As we bid farewell to this sacred month, let us continue to uphold the invaluable lessons it has gifted us… patience, self discipline, generosity, compassion and empathy for the less fortunate. The spirit of Ramadaan, much like the essence of Human Rights Day, reminds us of the importance of dignity, equality and care for one another.
