Dad rules this Sunday (June 15)
After mums were showered with affection, flowers and flapjacks just a few weeks ago on Mother’s Day, it’s now the dads’ turn to be treated like kings, with locals getting ready to flip the script and the pancakes for the real life superheros of every family – the dads. Yes, mums may run the show most days, but this Sunday, dad is the boss .
So, on Sunday (June 15), let dad sleep in, chill and be served like royalty. No ‘check something quickly or fix the tap.’ Just make sure Father’s Day is his day, all day… whether it’s with coffee, cartoons or just quiet time on the couch. The Laudium Sun joins the Jacaranda Primary School educators (pictured above), in wishing all fathers,
grandfathers and father-figures a very happy and restful Father’s Day. ‘Let us also remember, through prayer, all fathers who have left this world… we miss them so much’.

Nelson Mandela once said, “The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.” This quote is more than just words — it is a call to action that has become the cornerstone of my life’s mission: to inspire, uplift, and invest in the young adults of our community.
For the many blessings in my life, I express my gratitude to God, my family, and my community by giving back — by empowering every young person I encounter. I firmly believe that youth have the power to drive meaningful and lasting change, not just in their own lives, but in the lives of their families and communities. They are not just the future; they are the present — vibrant with potential, vision, and purpose.
Empowering youth means sharing a dream for a better tomorrow. It means encouraging ideas, nurturing potential, and guiding goals. My desire is simple yet profound: to help young people recognize their inner strength, to ignite their passion, and to support them in turning dreams into reality. We may not be able to change the world alone, but by doing small things with great love and intention, we can create ripple effects that reach far and wide.
As we commemorate June 16 — Youth Day, we take this moment to honour and celebrate every young adult. We acknowledge your energy, your drive, and your commitment to growth. We see you, we value you, and we believe in you.
Serving as the youth leader at Bethesda Revival Church has been one of the greatest honours of my life. With each meeting, each conversation, and each shared moment, my heart grows fuller. As Matthew 6:21 reminds us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” My heart is, and always will be, with the BRC Youth Club.
To all the youth — we celebrate you. We believe in your journey. And we stand beside you, every step of the way.
And to my dad, I acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate you, Pastor Kevin Naicker. You are not just my dad, you are my mentor, my advisor and my saviour in troubled times. Your advice has been invaluable to me. your support, the reason I’m standing.

I see God’s work in you and I see God in and through you, I strive tirelessly to be a little more like you each passing day.
