In a profound display of spiritual revival, thousands of attendees converged on Pretoria’s Heartfelt Arena the previous weekend, for the two-day Grand Sunnah Inspired Ijtimah.

Organised by Dawat-e-Islami South Africa, the monumental gathering drew men of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah community from all walks of life, fostering an atmosphere rich in devotion, brotherhood, and the remembrance of the Almighty.
The spiritually uplifting weekend served as a beacon of Islamic rejuvenation. Attendees were immersed in soul-stirring Qur’anic recitations, heartfelt Naats, Nasheeds and inspiring lectures. The core message resonated with clarity: a collective call to revive the Sunnah of Nabi Muhammad (SAW) in daily life and to fortify one’s connection with the Islamic faith.
Bringing together Ulama, Huffaz, esteemed scholars and community members, the event offered a rare and beautiful moment of international brotherhood and deep spiritual reflection.
A truly global gathering
Elevating the prestige of the event was its remarkable international draw. Attendees travelled from neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique and Malawi, as well as from as far afield as India, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom to
partake in the blessings. This added to the diversity of the attendees and was a perfect display unity in diversity.
This global presence was matched on stage by distinguished international guests. Renowned Islamic scholars and speakers—including Moulana Muhammad Imran Attari, Moulana Abdul Habib Attari, Haji Khalid Attari, and Moulana Usman Madani — who delivered captivating addresses that deeply moved the massive audience.
Organisers noted that the weekend was one of the largest Sunnah-inspired Islamic congregations ever hosted in the region. The programme transcended individual reflection, heavily highlighting the importance of peace, exemplary character, selfless service to humanity and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood across borders.
Seamless execution and devotion
Behind the scenes, the seamless execution of the massive event was a testament to community dedication. Hundreds of volunteers worked tirelessly around the clock to ensure the comfort, safety and spiritual focus of all local and international guests. Special logistical arrangements were meticulously planned to accommodate the thousands of brothers in attendance, and the discipline, warm hospitality, and palpable spirit of fellowship displayed throughout the venue were widely lauded.
As the Grand Sunnah-Inspired Ijtimah drew to a close, it left an indelible spiritual mark. Emotionally charged moments of collective dua (supplication) culminated in a renewed,
impassioned commitment among participants to embody the teachings of Islam.
Looking ahead to 2027
The triumphant conclusion of the weekend revitalised attendees, leaving them with a profound yearning for future gatherings. That palpable eagerness was swiftly answered by Dawat-e-Islami, who officially announced the highly anticipated dates for the next event before the crowds departed. With spiritual cups overflowing, the public is already counting down the days to the next Grand Ijtimah, scheduled to take place on September 24-26, 2027, promising another historic weekend of faith, learning, and cross-cultural devotion.
