In a heartwarming initiative, Laudium Cancer Care (LCC) extended its outreach efforts to the Grandfather’s Club at the Tshwane Muslim School, an organization that brings together senior men every Wednesday, for camaraderie and support.

This week’s gathering was particularly significant as LCC facilitated free prostate cancer screenings for the grandfathers in attendance. With men over the age of 50 at increased risk of prostate cancer, early detection is key.
Renowned medical professional, Dr. Solly Ebrahim, addressed the gathering, explaining the importance of routine screenings and shedding light on the symptoms, risks, and treatment options for prostate cancer. His talk was both informative and reassuring, encouraging the attendees to take proactive steps toward their health.
The screening process was seamlessly handled by dedicated nurses from Lancet Laboratory, who ensured that each grandfather had their details recorded before administering the necessary tests.

The event was a reflection of LCC’s ongoing commitment to preventative healthcare and community wellness. The grandfathers appreciated the effort, enjoying the warm atmosphere, informative session, and the snacks and drinks provided. Many expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive free screenings in a familiar and comfortable setting.
“I’ve always been hesitant about medical checkups, but after today, I understand how important it is,” said one attendee, Hashim
Ebrahim. “I’m grateful to the team for making this so easy for us.”

Another grandfather, Mohamed Alli, shared his thoughts: “It’s good to know we are being looked after. Often, older men neglect
their health, but this program reminds us that we are valued and cared for.”

Laudium Cancer Care hosts several outreach programs throughout the year, ensuring that vital healthcare services reach those who may not always have easy access. By bringing awareness and offering preventative screenings, the organization continues to make a lasting impact on the community.
