Hillside Primary reaches out in honour of Mandela month

Hillside Primary School proudly celebrated Mandela Month yesterday (Wednesday – July 29) by reaching out to the community through a meaningful outreach programme held at the Laudium Community Health Centre (LCHC).

The event reflected the values of compassion, kindness and service that Nelson Mandela championed throughout his life.

As part of the school’s Mandela Month initiative, hygiene packs were donated to young girls from the community to support their health, dignity and confidence. The school also shared words of encouragement, creating an atmosphere filled with smiles, gratitude and hope. The outreach served as a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

Hillside Primary School Principal, Suliman Motala, told the Laudium Sun, “We extend our sincere appreciation to the generous sponsors whose contributions made the outreach programme possible. Special thanks goes to; Sameer Ahmed, founder of Her Choice Pads, for the generous donation of sanitary pads; Junaid Gani from the KitKat Cash and Carry Group for sponsoring KitKat chocolates; Amka; Mabidi Suspension & Repairs; Haroons Printing and the dedicated Hillside Primary School staff, whose generosity and support helped make the day a great success.

The school also wishes to thank the management and staff of the Laudium Community Health Centre for welcoming the Hillside Primary School team and partnering with the school to make this initiative a success. Special thanks also goes to the Laudium Sun for covering the event. Mandela Month reminds us that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to change lives. Through this outreach programme, Hillside Primary School once again demonstrated its commitment to building a caring community and inspiring learners to become responsible.”
