The Laudium Volleyball Association ecstatic when three of their junior players were selected to represent ‘Team Tshwane Volleyball’ at the 2025 Gauteng OR Tambo Soncini Games, held in Johannesburg on October 25-26.
Nuha Chandlay and Mianka Pieterse represented the Under 16 Tshwane Girls team, while Braeden Williams represented the Under 16 Tshwane Boys team.
Riaz Chandlay, Chairman of the Laudium Volleyball Association, told the Laudium Sun, ”Despite some tough competition from other metros, our teams fought hard. The girls won their first match but faced a setback in the second. The boys had a close call but lost both their opening games on day one. However, the girls bounced back on day two, winning both their games and impressing with a 2-0 win against tournament favorites, Team Johannesburg.

Although the boys didn’t have the same luck on day two, Nuha and Mianka’s outstanding performance helped the girls’ team secure second place and a silver medal. We’re beyond proud of our young athletes and their achievement.”
Riaz added, “This is a proud moment for us. In just two years, we’ve had five juniors represent Team Tshwane in regional tournaments, and they’ve all made us proud. Our goal is to continue growing volleyball in Laudium and surrounding areas, and we’re excited to take our junior division to the next level next year. Many congratulations to Nuha, Mianka and Braeden for their outstanding performance and well done to Nuha Chandlay and Mianka Pieterse for winning the Silver medals! We’re proud to have you,” Riaz concluded.
