The Laudium Volleyball Association (LVA) took a significant step in giving back to the community on Saturday, June 14, in celebration of Youth Day.
In collaboration with the Laudium Tennis Association (LTA), the Laudium Volleyball Association organized a community clean-up and repair project at the Council owned public tennis courts at the corner of 15th Ave & Jade Street in Laudium. The initiative, driven by community volunteers and funded by Laudium Volleyball Association members and friends, aimed to transform the neglected area into a vibrant sports facility. The team successfully cleared the site of illegally dumped rubbish, overgrown plants, and repaired damaged surfaces. The project also enabled the conversion of three courts for dual use, accommodating both volleyball and tennis enthusiasts.
Riaz Chandlay, chairman of the LVA told the Laudium Sun, “This community-led effort has revitalized a previously neglected area, promoting a safe and healthy environment for local youth. The Laudium Volleyball Association mission is to build a vibrant volleyball community that fosters excellence, inclusivity, and sportsmanship while providing a supportive platform for young athletes to develop essential life skills.”
