News in brief – Sept 26, ‘25

  • The Laudium swimming pool has still not opened, despite Cllr Patel first assuring residents that it would open on the first day of Spring (Sept 1) and then stating it would open on the 15th of Sept.
  • Support is growing for the petition, which started months back, for the Tshwane Council to replace old water pipes in sector 1-2, Erasmia. It is only this week, after a sink hole has formed, that Cllr Patel, who has recently bought a house in the area, has shown support for the petition. To support the petition, use this link:

  • The ANC President has conceded that cities controlled by the DA are better run than those run by the ANC.
  • According to a local property owner, Cllr Patel has stated that he was aware of ‘Indians’ who owned properties near the M26, where squatters have set up illegal shacks, talking to government to buy their land, so as to ‘formalise’ the area into an informal settlement and provide services such as water and sanitation.
  • Despite the Gauteng Government deploying around 30 crime wardens with BMWs months back, separately for both the Laudium and Erasmia areas, many residents say they have never seen these Wardens in green overalls, patrolling the streets.
  • Accusations have been made by an exco member of the Concerned Community Forum (CCF) that certain members of the Laudium CPF were conflicted, because they were supplying goods to the Laudium Police Station, as a business deal
