Urgent notice to the community of Ward 61… by the Concerned Community Forum (CCF)
Please be informed that the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) has published Draft Stage 2 of the ward delimitation process, as contained in Notice No. 31/330 dated 24 September 2024.
This development is cause for concern, as there are still approximately 1,000 registered voters from the Springs of Living Church (Spruit) whose voter allocation remains unclear. During our engagement with the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB), we were informed that geographically, the entire Spruit area falls within Ward 70. While this explanation is understandable, the critical issue remains unresolved: Will these 1,000 voters cast
their votes in Ward 61 or in Ward 70?
We have formally requested clarity from the MDB and are awaiting their response. Residents are deeply concerned that this uncertainty—combined with the ongoing land invasion—will negatively impact Ward 61 in both representation and service delivery.
Importantly, the gazette provides the following recourse:
“In terms of Item 5(2) of Schedule 1 to the Act, any person aggrieved by the delimitation may, within 14 days of publication of this notice, submit objections in writing to the MDB.”
Once we have received clarity from the MDB, the Concerned Community Forum (CCF) will consult with our community and advise on the most appropriate way forward, including whether a formal objection should be submitted.

The Laudium Sun understands that the Spruit area, which is now on stage 2 of being ‘finalised’ as a proposal to be part of Laudium, has hundreds of unregistered squatters living there. It seems to be the same area proposed by Cllr Patel, supported by the ANC, which stretches from the bridge, near Jalapor’s on the M26, until the cheese shop, in Erasmia.
