
Maymoona Cassim Keevee (90)
Tributes continue to pour in, after news of the passing of Aunty Maymoona this past Tuesday (July 28), went viral, sending shockwaves throughout the community and indeed beyond. Aunty Maymoona was a household name who, for decades became renowned for her delicious and nourishing haleem. Her dedication to helping the less fortunate, by giving out free haleem, did not go unnoticed, with her selfless acts, kindness and community spirit earning her the respect and admiration of the community. The Laudium Sun gave Aunty Maymoona the honour she deserved, by featuring her on the front page of our January 23 issue earlier this year, as she celebrated her 90th birthday. Aunty Maymoona’s birthday function was hosted by the Institute of Islamic Services, with many of her friends from the Laudium Care Services for the Aged (LCSA) also in attendance. Abdul Yassie: “My special dua for her: may the Almighty grant her Jannatul Firdous… Ameen. May He reward her for all the good things she was doing while she was alive and may He forgive her for everything. I know her, I once worked at her house. I will continue making dua for her, Ameen…”
Imthiaz Ebrahim: “Yooo sad indeed. May the Almighty give sabr to the family in this difficult time. What a top soul she was. May the Almighty grant her the highest stage in Jannah, Ameen.”
Aysha Latib: A great loss for our community. May the Almighty grant Aunty Maymoona and all marhoomeen maghfirah and Jannatul Firdous. May He grant her family comfort, ease and aafiya.”

Late Husband: Sundra Arnachillan.
Mother of: Siveram, Krishanta, Shantie and Sumeshan.
Grandmother of: Lakeesha, Ashlyn, Aaman, Ishaan, Joshua, Sivesh and Allysia.
Mother in law of: Saloshnee, Ashley and Shernell.
Great Grandmother of: Zaylin.
“Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Our mother touched countless lives through her selflessness, humility and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service and love that will continue to inspire her family and everyone who had the
privilege of knowing her.

Shane Jerome Naidoo (37)
Family members and friends gathered at a mass for Shane Jerome Naidoo, which was held at the St Thomas Catholic Church on Pendant Str, Laudium, this past Saturday morning (July 25).
The mass was followed by a procession to the Laudium cemetery for the Rite of Commital and burial of ashes.
A reception was held thereafter, where family and friends gathered at the hall of the St Thomas Catholic Church. Fond memories of Shane were shared by those whose lives he made so bright.
