The Class of 1991 from Himalaya Secondary School, proved that time may pass, but true friendships and cherished memories only grow stronger.
On a magical evening filled with laughter, and heartfelt reunions, former classmates and teachers, came together to relive the golden days of their youth—a celebration that transcended three decades of life’s triumphs and trials.
The reunion held recently at the River, was meticulously organized by a dedicated committee led by Kashveena, Shani, Mumtaz, Shaakir, Sebastian, Jaya, Dipak, Avinash and Firouz was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment old friends embraced, it was as if the years melted away, transporting everyone back to 1991—a time of innocence, dreams, and unbreakable bonds.
A Journey Back in Time
The evening was a beautiful tapestry of shared memories, with classmates reminiscing about school days, teachers expressing pride in their students’ achievements, and even impromptu dance-offs—most notably, the legendary Mr. Khan, who, as one attendee noted, “can out dance every one of us!”
Emotions ran high as former students honored their teachers, including the beloved Madam Ellemdin, who moved many with her heartfelt words: “I am so moved by your thoughtfulness, It tells me that there is HOPE FOR MANKIND.” Her blessings for wisdom, success, and integrity resonated deeply with all present.
A Testament to Friendship and Community
What made the night truly special was the overwhelming sense of unity. As one classmate reflected, “We are not alone or without support from each other in times of need, We have FRIENDS that won’t forsake us.” Those who couldn’t attend were dearly missed, but the love extended to them just the same. Special mentions went to a former student turned jeweller (Woosh Designs) who sponsored a stunning gold and diamond necklace, for a raffle draw, won by a lucky lady and classmate. Former students were thanked and recognized for traveling from across the country to be part of this unforgettable reunion.
A Call to Support Himalaya Secondary School
Present at the reunion, as a former pupil of 91′, was Vilasen Padayachy, the current Principal, who highlighted his notable achievement of increasing the pass from 64% to 94%.
While the night was a celebration of the past, it also served as a reminder of the importance of giving back.
