PMT College recently honoured its long-serving caretaker, Yusuf Mangochi, fondly known as “Yusuf Bhai,” as he officially stepped into retirement, closing a chapter that spans more than four decades of faithful service. Often working behind the scenes, Yusuf Bhai ensured that classrooms were prepared, facilities were well maintained, and the environment remained safe and welcoming. His role extended far beyond basic upkeep, as he helped create a space in which education and Islamic values could flourish.

As a token of heartfelt appreciation, supporters of PMT College came together to raise R72,950, while learners at the school contributed an additional R20,000 in gratitude for his years of sterling service. The Laudium Sun joins PMT College in bidding farewell to Yusuf Bhai with immense gratitude and respect, making du’a for his continued good health, barakah, and happiness in retirement. May the years ahead be filled with peace, cherished family time, and the reward befitting decades of sincere and devoted service.

PMT College proudly honoured and celebrated the remarkable service of their beloved caretaker, Yusuf ‘Yusuf Bhai’ Mangochi, who dedicated 41 years of his life to the school and its community.

Abdul Qadir Soondka told the Laudium Sun on behalf of PMT College, “For more than four decades, Yusuf Bhai has been a constant and reassuring presence on our campus. Generations of learners have walked through the school gates under his watchful care. Staff members have relied on his dependability, and the school grounds have stood as a testament to his quiet dedication and hard work. Forty-one years is not simply a measure of time — it is a legacy.

“In Islam, sincere work done with integrity is regarded as an act of worship. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that Allah loves when a person performs their work with excellence. Yusuf Bhai’s service has reflected this spirit of ihsaan — excellence carried out with humility, sincerity, and consistency.

“Often working behind the scenes, he ensured that classrooms were ready, facilities were maintained, and the school environment remained safe and welcoming. His contribution has extended far beyond maintenance; he has played an essential role in creating a space where education, discipline, and Islamic values could flourish.

“The Qur’an reminds us: ‘And say, “Do [as you will], for the Almighty will see your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger and the believers.”’ (Surah At-Tawbah 9:105).

“We firmly believe that every early morning, every act of responsibility, and every moment of service is recorded and rewarded by Allah. While much of Yusuf Bhai’s work may have gone unnoticed by many, it has never gone unnoticed by the One who matters most.”

In a touching display of appreciation and unity, the school and the wider PMT community came together to raise R72,950 as a token of gratitude upon Yusuf Bhai’s retirement. This generous contribution reflects the deep respect, love, and appreciation the community holds for him. It is not merely a financial gift, but a symbol of heartfelt recognition for four decades of faithful service.
