From bold entrepreneurs to powerful industry leaders, some of South Africa’s most inspiring women were honoured at the South African Women in Business Awards (SAWIBA) 2025, held on Saturday (Nov 8) at the War Museum in Johannesburg. Hosted by locally based Yobuningi Events, the prestigious ceremony recognised excellence across business, innovation and community impact, all under this year’s theme… ‘Resilient Women in Business.’ It was an evening of elegance, emotion as women who have turned hardship into triumph were celebrated for their courage and contribution to society. Founder, Shameem Baksh, reminded guests that the awards were not just about success, but also about lifting others while rising. “Together, we’re shaping a stronger, more inclusive future,” she said.

In what was described as a glittering evening at the War Museum in Johannesburg, Yobuningi Events hosted the ‘South African Women in Business Awards (SAWIBA) 2025,’ event this past Saturday (Nov 8), which was a resounding celebration of resilience, leadership and excellence among many of South Africa’s dynamic women in business.

The prestigious ceremony brought together entrepreneurs, executives, innovators, and community leaders from across the country, united in honouring women who continue to rise above challenges and make an indelible mark in their industries and communities. This year’s theme, “Resilient Women in Business,” reflected the strength and determination of women who have turned obstacles into opportunities and continue to inspire through courage, purpose, and perseverance.

The awards recognised outstanding women across diverse sectors, from entrepreneurship and innovation to community impact and corporate leadership. Each recipient embodied the essence of strength, vision, and empowerment that SAWIBA represents. In her remarks, Shameem Baksh, founder and Director of Yobuningi, extended heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, partners, and guests who made the evening possible.
